Mindless Hustle

It’s overused in hip hop and everywhere else. I love music and always will, but I have seen so much hype and people hustle backward. Myself included.

I took a break to build my family and purchase a house. Then I set up an LLC and opened a non music related business (that I will keep on the low until it’s truly ready to be out there). After that I set up a few additional savings accounts (one for the business, one for the music, one for the fam, and another one just for me.) NOW THAT’S HUSTLING!

Ok, at least my definition of it in a revised nutshell.

You see, people are so shallow that it’s sickening. What happens when you put your trust in associates and things fall thru??? Well, you get left in the dirt 90% of the time.

What happens when you put your trust in family? I mean strong trust with the family you built your foundation with? It’s more common that they will have your back and encourage you to keep it moving and not give up on your vision. THAT’S LOVE!!!

I see too many of my young people getting caught up in the entertainment dreams without knowing what’s on the back end of everything. The more I got into the “Music Business”, the more I got caught up in the “Business” side of things.

I encourage all young artists out there to really educate themselves on what they want to do beyond music. Look at your local hip hop sites or the national hip hop sites and see all of the drama that takes place everyday all day…

Then look at what you want to do behind the scenes and see all of the benefits and security attached to it…

Why not enter the game as your own man? As your own brand…Or better yet, your own entity???

One of the mistakes we made initially was thinking we were so hot that someone would just hear us and extend a hand. And don’t get me wrong, it did happen like that a few times. But with no product, no strong promo, no shows (why do a show when can’t give away merchandise?) Then you are begging for a quick downfall and a “What happened to him…?” moment.

Get on your grind to secure a future for your family, and let everything else fall into place. It’s easier to be a leader than it is to be a follower. A true leader will leave a true long lasting legacy. A follower won’t be remembered.

And to quote the great Dr. Martin Luther King:

“A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus, but a molder of consensus”

Closing out, my hustle is geared toward living beyond my existence. It makes everything I do mean that much more. That’s why I threw my album away…Because it was just random hip hop chatter and not a definition of what my true hustle has been. Throw out the name dropping and be yourself. God, Family, Business, Music. The flow has enough structure to build an empire….
